As a 3-month-old baby, my parents took me for my first flight on a Comet of Olympic Airways; there perhaps the root was laid for a career in aviation.
After an ‘Bapteme de L’air’ at the aerodrome of Saint Cyr L’ecole just south of Paris when I was 15, I was really convinced, this is what I want to do as a career.
I started at the age of 16 with my flying lessons at the Vliegclub Rotterdam at Rotterdam Airport and from there on I progressed through PPL, CPL and IR.
After a short excursion to the USA, for time building and getting a FAA CPL, I started flying with Tulip Air on the Piper Chieftain after getting a type rating as a FO. Upgrade to Captain followed after which Transavia Airlines hired me in 1994. At Transavia I was soon asked to engage as a Ground instructor and from that position upwards I became a TRI and TRE on the B737 300-900 series.
I am still working at Transavia with great passion and joy even after two periods of unpaid leave in which I worked for Air Seychelles and later Eurocypria.
At 2013 I became a Flight Crew Training Manager a position that I held until 2016. In my free time I managed to study Law at Leiden University, which really was of great help during my office duties.
Due to the fact that I started working part time and confronted with an increased demand on Aviation training and consultancy in general, I realized that it would be a good opportunity to start a small enterprise combining both. Thus LAW-aiR B.V. was born.
